JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 17 Discussion
Following the rigorous fight between Prosciutto and Pusci and Buccellati's team, we see a new member from the Hitman Team named Melone start to pursue the protagonists. A woman on the train is complaining about delays and Melone appears in her room and begins to harass her. He pulls out a laptop and starts to input information about the woman into the laptop, such as her blood type, health and other things. The laptop then grows a small head and legs, to which Melone announces that this is his stand Babyface (subbed to Babyhead). His stand "impregnates" her and the thing that has been inserted into her begins to develop at a rapid pace. Snapping back to Buccellati's crew, they are riding in a truck whilst inside Coco Jumbo's stand ability Mr. President. Giorno beings to question if Trish has a stand. The truck crashes due to Sex Pistol's shenanigans, so the protagonists must find another mode of transportation. The woman that Melone visited awakens and the thing inserted inside of her also awakens and begins to analyze the world around it, asking questions to its new "mother" and also to Melone via the laptop. Melone explains to the infant stand power that he must kill Buccellati and the rest of the gang but keep Trish alive. The baby stand ability decides to kill the woman who it considered it's "mommy" by turning her body into cubes and consuming them for nutrition. The stand can also turn other objects and itself into cubes and can take the shape of other objects. Buccellati's team is deciding how to properly get to Venice. Giorno turns all the cars around them into frogs and scatters them so that way they are harder to track. Trish and Buccellati are in the turtle so Trish is safe. Giorno informs them that the rest of the team are procuring a car to get to Venice, but Giorno suddenly hears a motorcycle revving from around the corner of the building near him. Giorno goes to investigate and Trish and Buccellati are attacked from within the turtle. Trish is dragged within a cabinet and Buccellati goes to respond, but is turned into cubes. Giorno notices they are missing from Coco Jumbo. Babyface informs Melone that he has apprehended Trish and Buccellati, so Melone calls some of the member of the Hitman Team, Ghiacco and Nero, to inform them of this. Giorno goes to tell the rest of the team that they are under attack, but Babyface's creation takes a cube of flesh out of Giorno's throat, stopping both his speech and breathing. Giorno takes the key out of Coco Jumbo, forcing Babyface out of the key. It is revealed that Babyface was disguising itself as the cabinet within Coco Jumbo. Babyface splits into cubes to dodge attacks from Golden Experience and strikes back. Girono is missing pieces of his body and cannot breath, so he cannot inform the rest of the team. Babyface thinks it has won, but Giorno reveals that their powers are rather similar. Giorno reconstructs an eye and pieces of his throat for himself from objects around him. Babyface panics and attempts to leave via the motorcycle, but Giorno immobilizes the bike with roots. Babyface has dropped the turtle but disguised itself as gasoline leaking from the motorcycle. Babyface attacks Giorno and Giorno detaches his arm and turns it into a piranha, which explodes out of Babyface. This is where this weeks episode ends.
The entire team of protagonists have been forced to fight and defeated multiple very powerful stand users who want to get their hands on Trish and information about their boss. They have had to think creatively and be spontaneous when dealing with these fearsome foes. Due to all of this, the members of the team have grown in multiple ways. For example, this episode showed us that Giorno is growing and learning more about his own stand abilities while fighting Babyface. Giorno has always been able to use Golden Experience in creative ways, but he has now learned that he can even create body parts for himself out of inanimate objects around him. This ability, while it may seem niche to this fight, can be very powerful in the hands of a creative and intelligent user such as Giorno. Buccellati had to use his own stand on himself to turn his body into chunks and even stop his own heart so he could evade Beach Boy. There are more examples besides these two, but these examples show that this team is growing at a fast rate, essentially powering up after defeating each enemy stand. There are still many enemies that stand in the way of Buccellati's team and the final goal of completing their mission assigned to them by the Passione boss. Each of their individual stands are powerful, but being able to think on the fly and learning new things about their stand is going to be a very big deal as the enemies they face get stronger and stronger.
