Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 28 Discussion
No one is safe in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Abbacchio was killed by the boss of Passione. We knew from the boss's previous statements that Abbacchio was one of his main targets due to the fact that once Abbacchio uses Moody Blues's replay ability where the boss took a photo, they could discover his real face. The audience knew that he was a target and yet it was still a surprise to everyone who witnessed this moment for the first time. We haven't had a main character die in Golden Wind and the closest thing we had to a main character dying in Diamond is Unbreakable was when Yoshikage Kira blew up Shigechi. Before that we had the deaths of Kakyoin, Iggy and Avdol in Stardust Crusaders, which was a heavy blow to everyone watching JoJo's at the time. So the JoJo fan base has been blessed with no major character deaths for all of part 4 and a majority of part 5.
Abbacchio was a character who was hard to hate in my opinion. Sure, he didn't like the main character and was constantly questioning Giorno's credibility. Despite all of that, we still managed to like a character as seemingly cold as Abbacchio. Once we learned that he distrusts people for a reason, we start to get some insight as to who this man really is. His partner when he was a police officer was killed right in front of him and that was due to Abbacchio taking a bribe and sullied the ethics that he built his whole life on. After his partner's death Abbacchio drank and roamed the streets until Buccellati asked him if he wanted to join his crew. Buccellati saved Abbacchio, like most of the other members of the team. Abbacchio didn't trust Giorno right away because he didn't want to be hurt like before. Above that, he didn't want his new friends to be hurt either. We learn through part 5 that Abbacchio can be cold, but he can also be very smart, loyal, cool headed and methodical.
Everyone is devastated when they come across the corpse of Abbacchio. Narancia, still young and often lets his emotions flare, is the most visibly upset but everyone knows that all of them are torn up about this. Buccellati bites his lip to attempt to control his emotions and draws blood from how hard he bit down. Giorno and Mista will not meet anyone's gaze. They are all heartbroken. However, our protagonists realize that Abbacchio left a parting gift: a death mask of what the boss's face looks like. Abbacchio's death was not in vain. Buccellati's group is strong and continues onward.

A flower bed is left in place of Abbacchio's body thanks to Golden Experience. According to Hideya Takahashi, the anime's director, they are Yellow Sultans, which signify strong wills. He also had this to say about the flowers:
"This refers to his will to seek out the truth."
