JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 26 Discussion

We kick off this new episode with a woman giving birth in an all female prison, which baffles the guards. They ask the pregnant woman who the father is and she responds that he has been dead for two years. Going forward a few years, we learn that the boy was adopted by a priest. The priest starts digging into his own room with a pick axe so he could make room for a garage to house a car for the boy he adopted and he finds a woman under the floorboards. Her mouth is sewn shut and it turns out that she is the mother to the boy the priest adopted. The boy catches the priest in the act and kills him, followed by burning that town they live in to the ground. Returning to the present, that same boy, who is now an adolescent, tries to save a kid from getting hit by a truck and instead, he falls in a puddle and his briefcase is destroyed. A fortune teller talks to the teenager who we learn later is named Doppio. The fortune teller states that Doppio is from Sardinia, he has a dark secret and that he has a daughter, even though he seems too young to have a daughter. The fortune teller grabs Doppio's hand and Doppio gets enraged, pinning the fortune teller to the wall. Doppio's body and eyes transform, becoming more muscular and his eyes turn green. Doppio shows the fortune teller a picture of Niro, the only remaining survivor of the Hitman Team and asks where he is. The fortune teller says he will meet him soon. After that, Doppio kills him with a single punch from King Crimson. Doppio gets in a taxi to go to the location in the picture where the boss of Passione took a picture of Trish's mother. The taxi driver tries to rip off by charging too much Doppio and Doppio freaks out again, almost ripping out the taxi driver's eye. Suddenly, a phone rings. Doppio is the one making the phone ringing noises and he grabs a decoration from inside the car and uses it to talk to the boss. The boss, who is Doppio and at the same time, is not Doppio informs him that Nero is watching him. (This will all be explained in later episodes, so this will remain spoiler free for anime only readers.) Doppio seems to not know what happens when he freaks out, so when Nero confronts him he cannot remember who Nero is. Doppio is frightened by Nero, so Nero isn't suspicious initially. Nero asks Doppio about an envelope that Doppio instinctively hid when he hit is face on the rock. Nero tells Doppio to get up to see the envelope, but the picture stuck to Doppio's foot so Nero did not see the picture of Trish's mother. An airplane can be heard in the distance and Nero noticed Doppio looking where the airplane made the noise. The airplane was Aerosmith, Narancia's stand, so Nero now knows that Doppio can see stands which means Doppio has a stand of his own. Doppio charges Nero, but pukes blood and razor blades. Doppio charges again and needles form in his face and mouth. This is all due to Nero's stand Metallica. Nero hops down from a cliff to avoid Doppio's swings and then he receives another "phone call" from the boss. This time the phone is a frog. The boss reinforces that Doppio has to get closer to Nero to defeat him. The boss informs Doppio that he infused some of King Crimson's power into Doppio so he should not be scared. Episode 26 ends there.

A new character has entered the plot of part 5: Doppio. Doppio seems to be somewhat of a cowardly teen with anger issues. While I cannot go too much into who Doppio really is or what his relationship to the boss is due to not wanting to spoil parts of Golden Wind, we can go into some detail based on what we learned in this episode. The boss has told Doppio that he infused some of King Crimson's power into Doppio and that in order to activate that power, he has to get within two meters of Nero to defeat him. We don't know how much of King Crimson's power is within Doppio or what parts of that power will activate when he gets close to Nero. The small head on King Crimson's head appeared on Doppio's forehead when the boss brought this up, so it has to be true. This will prove to be a difficult fight for Doppio as Nero is a long range stand user. Doppio seems to believe that random objects, such as a frog, is a phone which the boss is using to talk and communicate with Doppio. There are many mysteries surrounding Doppio like what his relationship to the boss is, why did the fortune teller say he had a daughter and many more. Most of these questions will be answered later, so in order to stay spoiler free, I'm signing off!
