JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 12 Discussion
Fugo is driving Giorno and Abbacchio to the dog mosaic in Pompeii in order to retrieve the key that Passione's boss put there. After a fit of anger from Fugo, they arrive and are met by an enemy stand user. Fugo sees a mysterious man in a mirror and warns the others that he is behind them. Looking behind them, no one is there. Realizing that he is not behind them, Fugo deduces that their enemy is within the mirror they are looking at. Fugo thinks quickly on his feet and shoves Giorno and Abbacchio away from the mirror. After doing so, Fugo is all alone and the enemy stand user appears in front of him. The enemy has detailed information on everyone in Buccellati's gang except for Giorno, who is new to the gang. Fugo realizes that they are within the mirror. This is the ability of the enemy stand Man in the Mirror (which is changed to Mirror Man in the subtitles). Abbacchio and Giorno are looking for Fugo, who just disappeared in front of them. The enemy facing Fugo asks him where Trish is and when Fugo refuses to tell him, he attacks with his Man in the Mirror. Fugo attempts to call out his stand Purple Haze - or Purple Smoke - but nothing appears. Fugo's stand appeared in the real world, in close proximity to Giorno and Abbacchio. Abbacchio warns Giorno that he shouldn't stand too close to Fugo's stand. In the mirror world, the enemy stand user tells Fugo that he allowed Fugo and only Fugo to enter this realm, hence why his stand will not appear. No other living thing can come into this realm unless Man in the Mirror allows it. Flashing back, we learn that Pannacotta Fugo was a brilliant child, but the weight of other's expectations of him would drive him into fits of rage. When he entered university, he assaulted a professor who was making advances towards the thirteen year-old Fugo. Fugo was charged, but his family made sure he did not get a guilty sentence. However, his family blackballed him, forcing him into the streets. His intellect caught the attention of Buccellati, promising him a home and that Buccellati would help Fugo with his fits of rage. Back in the present, Fugo's stand is attacking walls, releasing the virus housed within the balls on it's knuckles. The wall that Purple Haze attacked shatters in the mirror world as well. Dead crows start to fall in the mirror world, perplexing the enemy stand user. Abbacchio explains the ability of Purple Haze to Giorno, warning him that the virus will kill him if he gets too close. The stand attempts to clean it's leg after drooling on it, revealing that this stand has a problem with being dirty. Purple Haze then attacks the mirror that Fugo was sucked into. Fugo is trying to send a message to Abbacchio and Giorno. Abbacchio tells Giorno that they must go get the key from the dog mosaic, which was their original objective. Giorno refuses and wants to help Fugo. Abbacchio runs off to get the key, leaving Giorno behind. The enemy stand user takes a swing at Fugo, leaving the fanbase with a cliffhanger.
This episode has shown the JoJo crowd that Fugo is a complex member of the team. He had a rough past, being ostracized from his own family at a young age and almost charged with attacking his professor. Buccellati noticed this bright young man and brought him into the Passione gang, showing us yet again that Buccellati is the heart and soul of this team. Buccellati is a caring young man who has earned the respect and trust of all the members of his team. Fugo saw this and is now part of Buccellati's gang. Fugo is a valued member of the team, as are the rest of the team members. Fugo was hesitant to join this gang however, as his bouts of rage and fury can harm anyone who are not careful when around Fugo. He has bouts of rage that are difficult to control, which is perfectly represented with his deadly stand Purple Haze. This stand, once a ball on its knuckle is broken, kills all living things that breath in the deadly virus. This stand does not distinguish friend from foe, making it potentially deadly for Fugo's allies. This can be said about his fits of anger as well. Fugo gets mad at friends and enemies alike; no one is safe from Fugo's rage or Purple Haze's deadly abilities. Next week, we will learn more about Fugo and his hazardous stand known as Purple Haze.
