Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 1 Discussion

The first Jojo Friday of the new season and come and past, and ample time has been given to watch and digest this masterpiece, so now we discuss! A quick note, I won't be going over most of the plot (maybe just a general summary sometimes) since I assume all who are reading this blog post have seen the first episode. With that being said, David Production went all out on this episode, making all the scenes look phenomenal. You can tell the art design is still Jojo-esque, but still feels like it is evolving. For example, Koichi still looks and feels like the Koichi we know from part 4, and yet feel more matured, perhaps even a tad older thanks to his character development and the changing art style from David Production. I'll post a couple pictures to help emphasize my point, but damn does it look nice.

As for the plot, it seemed to cover the first four-ish chapters of Golden Wind, and the pacing felt very smooth and not forced. We meet the new Jojo - Giorno - and learn that he is a high school student with a great sense for fashion and lives a less-than-honest lifestyle. Koichi is tasked with finding him due tot he fact that Jotaro has a suspicion that he might be DIO's son. Koichi finds him and learns he is a stand user and relays this to Jotaro. Giorno, successfully stealing Koichi's luggage from his encounter with him at the airport, runs into Leaky Eye Luca (a mob member who claims to own that turf at the airport that Giorno is stealing from tourists at), who then threatens Giorno but gets a shovel to the head for doing so. Then Giorno meets another stand user from the mob named Buccellati. The episode leaves us on a cliffhanger of sorts, wanting all fans to come back next Friday to enjoy more Jojos!
If you are a manga reader, you know right away Giorno's stand and its unique abilities, but for the anime watchers, this episode left a lot to the imagination: what does his stand do, how did it turn luggage into a frog, how did it make a tree and why did Koichi take damage from hitting said tree? All of these questions will be answered, but I do like how the anime takes a page from the manga (no pun intended) and keeps the fans in some suspense and intrigue with how stands work, like Giorno and Buccellatis. I know some fans were a little upset that, like with part 4, that the voice actors were mostly different from the voice actors fans were used to from Eyes of Heaven, the most recent Jojos fighting game. The voice actors from Eyes of Heaven were very good, but I also believe that the voice actors the anime decided to use are also exceptional choices.

All of this being said, I am very hyped for the next episode and for this season in general. I am excited to see old faces come back, new faces get animated for the first time, and for the epic fights to come. I will leave you with this scene that I am sure all Jojo fans are glad to finally have in animated form.
