JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 23 Discussion
Talking Head is still within Narancia's mouth and Clash has chomped down into Giorno's neck as we kick off this episode. Clash is pulling Giorno underwater with it and teleports to dodge the incoming attacks from Aerosmith. Squalo is attempting to finish off Giorno so Narancia's Aerosmith cannot track them, but Clash has to keep teleporting so it doesn't get shot by Narnacia's stand. Narancia attemps to shoot at Clash, but mises and hits Giorno. Clash escapes into the sewers to finish off Giorno, but Tiziano notices that Narancia said "They got away" and Talking Head's ability would not allow Narancia to say that if that was true, so he tells Squalo that Narancia knows where Clash took Giorno. The gas emitting from the bullet holes on Giorno allowed Narancia to track them. Aerosmith lands hits on Clash, wounding Squalo. Clash teleports to a pot boiling on a stove and Narancia shoots that pot, wounding Clash even further. However, that was part of Squalo's plan. The water removed the flame form the gas stove, making gas flood the room. If Narancia shoots, the gas will ignite in the air. Clash attempts to take Giorno and Narancia attacks Clash with the spinning propeller on Aerosmith. Narancia yells to the rest of the team since Talking Head was brought back to Tiziano and the rest of the crew show up in the kitchen. Tiziano reapplies Talking Head to Narancia, telling Mista to shoot the injured Clash, sparking the gas in the room and creating an explosion, thus blasting everyone away. Now that there is fire from the explosion, Narancia cannot track where the enemy is either. Giorno tells Narancia to look for the stand users and then gets taken underwater by Clash, leaving behind a button from his shirt. Narancia goes outside to find the enemy stand users. Tiziano and Squalo attempt to leave because their only mission was to defeat Giorno. Squalo sees Narancia and starts to panic, but Tiziano tells him that there are a lot of people where they are, so Narancia cannot possibly know where they are. They attempt to hide Squalo's injuries and leave the city, but Narancia yells that he found them, which makes Squalo panic even more. Tiziano points out that he cannot tell the truth, so what he said is obviously a lie and only said it to make them panic, breathe heavier and show up on Narancia's radar. They see that Narancia cut out is own tongue with Talking Head on it and used the button Giorno left to make a new tongue for himself; Giorno thought ahead and left that button from his shirt on purpose so Narancia could do this. Narancia finds out where they are due to the increased breathing from them and he attacks, but Tiziano blocks the bullets with his body so Squalo could use the blood gushing from him to attack Narancia with Clash. Filled with rage, Squalo attacks Narancia by having Clash dive into Narancia's throat. Narancia attacks the injured Squalo and defeats him. Giorno is still alive after all of this. They meet back up with the rest of the team and they travel via boat to go to a plane to reach the island of Sardinia. This is where the episode ends.
This episode is one of many that show time and time again that Giorno is the backbone of this team. Yes, the rest of the team are very powerful, smart and creative individuals. Buccellati could also be seen as the backbone of our team of protagonists as he brought them all together and decided to betray Passione. Every single fight Giorno has been in, he has found incredibly creative ways to either help his fellow teammates win the fight or outright win the fight himself. This episode clearly shows my point, along with episodes like the fight against Zucchero on the boat, Ghiacchio and Melone. All of these fights Giorno either won or whomever was fighting the enemy might not have won if Giorno didn't help them the way he did. Narancia even says at the end of this episode that they might just have a shot at defeating the boss of Passione with Giorno on their side. There are more fights ahead and they will only get harder from here on out, so we will see more and more examples where Giorno really shines and proves why he is the backbone of Buccellati's team.
