JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 7 Discussion

We start episode 7 of Golden Wind with the members of Buccellati's gang kicking the shit out of Zuccjero's body for all the trouble he put the gang through. Mista chooses to interrogate his severed head (still alive and functioning due to Sticky Finger's ability) as they head towards Capri, the location of Polpo's hidden treasure. Mista fastens eye glasses to Zucchero's face while keeping one of his eyes open with a fishing hook, so the sun shines into the eye glasses and is intensified onto one eye of Zucchero. Narancia proceeds to dance like never before to some funky music, prompting Fugo and Mista to join in on this torture dance. Abbacchio cuts off the gang before they can torture the severed head more, showing them that Zucchero notified someone via radio on the island of Capri, likely his partner, that they are headed to Capri on a boat. Moody Blues plays back that message and the gang decided to ambush that mysterious partner on Capri before he realizes that Zucchero was captured. Giorno and Mista head to Capri to take on the partner of Zucchero. Mista makes lunch for his stand, Sex Pistols (or Six Bullets, as we see in the subtitles) in order to motivate the stand. Giorno and Mista decide to ambush the mysterious partner by having Mista go to the security building and have Giorno radio to it, telling the security guard that there is a message for someone from Zucchero. Mista waits in ambush, but no one takes the bait. Giorno spots someone in the security building taking into the radio. Mista has no idea, so Giorno speaks through the radio, telling Mista that he is in inside the building. Mista fires into the window of the security building, wounding the mystery partner's leg. The partner makes his way to a truck and Mista follows him via blood trail. The truck starts to move, so Mista grabs onto a bar on the passenger side of the truck, thus ending this episode.

Any thoughts I had about JoJo's potentially declining in production/animation quality were quickly dispelled from this episode. The animation was beautiful and on point throughout the whole episode. Major props to David Production for turning a four panel scene from the manga into more than a minute of a glorious dance sequence. Fans of JoJo (specifically readers of the JoJo part 5 manga) shed a single tear of joy from witnessing this amazing torture dance that Narancia, Mista and Fugo put on. The music was funky, the dance moves were lively and held true to the manga while extrapolating the dance enough to make it seem fluid, JoJo-esque and overall looking fantastic. We also got a first look at Mista's stand, Sex Pistols. These little guys are finicky and petty, always trying to prove they do the most work out of the six of them. This aspect of Mista's stand makes it stand out heavily from a stand similar to it: Hol Horse's Emperor. This stand is another gun stand from part 3 and has similarities to Mista's Sex Pistols, but what makes Mista's stand stand out (no pun intended) is the small, numbered pieces of his stand. Numbered one through seven (skipping the number four, due to Mista's hatred of that number), these small stand personifications require - or rather, demand - food and a nap after eating. Mista is able to motivate them to work on this ambush by promising a feast after the job is done. This stand is unique and a cool addition to the Buccellati team.

This episode was great overall. It showcased Mista's stand very well, blessed us with the long awaited torture dance and set us up with some suspense for the next episode. The animation quality was top notch and next episode will only showcase that point further. Thanks for reading and have a great JoJo Friday!
