Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Episode 6 Discussion

We kick off our bizarre adventure this week with Abbacchio's backstory. He was once a police officer who wanted to spread justice. That is, until he found out that gang members and other criminals he was locking up just get released again by posting bail. He saw corrupt people all around him and so he becomes corrupt. This ends up getting his partner killed. Abbacchio took a bribe to look the other way from a criminal and that very criminal shot and killed his partner. After this tragedy, Abbacchio vows to never have his heart moved again. Jumping back to present time, Abbacchio is determined to solve what this enemy stand does and where the other gang members are being held. Attempting to follow where the fly goes that Giorno made from Narancia's shoe, Buccellati uses Sticky Fingers to open holes in the boat, looking in pipes and below the deck to see if the enemy stand user is hiding there. Hopping below quarters, Abbacchio uses Moody Blues to try to determine what exactly happened to Narancia. Rewinding to that moment, Moody Blues shows that Narancia was deflated like a balloon and sucked inside the pipe. Buccellati deduces that the pipes is where the enemy must be hiding. Checking in the pipes with Sticky Fingers, we see that the rest of the gang are not there. Moody Blues is then attacked by the enemy stand and Abbacchio is deflated by the stand's ability and sucked where the rest of the gang members are. The enemy stand then starts talking to Buccellati, threatening Buccellati by saying he will kill the other gang members if he doesn't tell him where Polpo's hidden treasure is located. The boat then starts to sink from a hole that Buccellati created at the bottom of the boat when he was searching for the other gang members with Sticky Fingers. Before the boat sinks completely, the enemy stand is revealed. The boat they were on was thinly covered by another boat, having a thin space in between the two boats for the enemy stand to operate. Cornered, the enemy stand user threatens to kill Abbacchio, but Buccellati creates a zipper to take off the enemy stand user's head. Abbacchio starts to inflate again and return to normal. Here is where episode 6 ends.

With this episode, we start to see that even though there is tension in Buccellati's team (mainly between Giorno and Abbacchio), the team cares about each other, can work together well and are very intelligent, being able to think on their feet in order to defeat enemy stand users. More instances of this will be revealed later on in the anime, but this episode kicks off this theme. This team has been with each other for a large amount of time (barring Giorno of course) so they have gotten very good at working with each other, even though there is bickering and teasing within the group. A good example of this is when Abbacchio refused to reveal his stand in front of Giorno. Buccellati warns Buccellati that the reason better not be due to some stupid shit. Jump forward slightly and we also see that Buccellati never would have figured out the enemy stand's abilities if Abbacchio didn't help to reveal it. This is an early example in the anime that shows exactly my point, which is this team bickers like a family at times, but also would risk their lives to help the other members and to make sure the goals set by the team are accomplished. Some members do not work as well with some as they do others. A good example of this is Buccellati and Giorno, even though they have not known each other long, work well together. On the other hand, Abbacchio and Giorno do not work quite as well with each other. Narancia and Mista fight and bicker constantly, but they operate very well together. This is a big reason as to why this team is successful and still around and working in Passione. Other members of the gang knows that this team is a force to be reckoned with. I would wager to say that this team might work just as good, if not better, than the Stardust Crusaders.

In conclusion, episode 6 was a great episode that continues the Jojo tradition of having beautiful animation. The episodes shows off the great connection the team has and that fact will only continue to become more apparent. I am excited for the next Jojo Friday, as always!
